SUMMARY:Wabanaki Plant Knowledge with Mihku Paul
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, August 20\, 2026 \n5:00 PM  6:30 PM \nTate House Museum\, 1267 Westbrook Street\, Portland Maine \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWikkihke – “She Likes to Plant Gardens”   \nPlants are completely essential to the health of ecologies and have long been used by Maine’s “Waponahki” (aka Wabanaki) tribes for food and medicine and weaving supplies. Indigenous plant medicine has been practiced for centuries. There are still plants and shrubs used for nourishment and good health. Let’s talk about some of these plants\, and enjoy a marvelous summer drink made from wild foraged plants\, elderberry\, and preserved rose hips. We’ll cover at least 3 plants\, prepare summer tea\, and a delicious fruit drink loaded with vitamin C. \nThis program will take place in the Tate House backyard and garden. Tickets will be available at the door\, and are $18 for the general public ($12 for children 12 and under) and $15 for THM members\, $40 for a family of four with up to 2 adults and 2 children. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nhttps://www.tatehouse.org/events/botanical-dyeing-workshop-0824-pb9m8
